NEW YORK (CNN) -- The federal government is looking into a potential $4 billion settlement of a lawsuit by former executives of the company that is calling for a return to full disclosure of the company's identity.

In a statement, The Wall Street Journal said the company will pay $3.5 billion in fines to settle allegations that it was trying to hide its financial information through secret agreements. The settlement also could result in a $1 billion settlement between the two companies.

The case is part of a lawsuit filed by former executives of CVS Health, which is suing the drug company and the company's former employees to recover damages for alleged illegal activities related to its drug program.

"It is important that the settlement is not a legal resolution and that the government and the plaintiffs' attorneys share the burden of providing adequate information about the company and its financial relationships to the court," the lawsuit said in the statement.

The lawsuit comes as the pharmaceutical company has faced lawsuits from those who say they were exposed to the drugs from its Nexium product that were manufactured by the company in the early 1990s. The company was found to have used the drugs for a number of years without warning, leading to a settlement.

"This is a difficult time for both the company and the public, and for the people who work with them," said Thomas J. Gagel, a lawyer at Waus-le-Lane, one of the plaintiffs.

The federal government has been looking into the matter for years, and the case is being brought in a court in New Jersey. It was originally filed in 2010, and the company is suing several other companies. Gagel is seeking a total of $1 billion settlement, plus costs and fees, over the course of 12 months.

"We have seen the company's recent successes, and we are continuing to see them," said Robert L. Shafer, a lawyer at Waus-le-Lane who was appointed to the case in July.

He said he was unable to believe the company's success, but that it was important to have a good understanding of its relationship with the public.

In January, the company agreed to a settlement of $1 billion in damages to a former employee who was killed during an accident in 2007.

The company was required to pay $5 million in damages to the widow of an employee who died after the accident. In a statement, CVS said that it had "expanded the rights" to the company's Nexium and was seeking to "continue to pay compensation and expenses."

In a statement, CVS said it has not been able to provide any details about the settlement or its rights to the product.

The average prices for these two drugs have changed somewhat in the last couple of weeks. For the most part, you will see that prices have risen a lot between the both Nexium and its generic counterpart, Protonix. However, the average prices for the two drugs do differ.

We’ll talk more about that in a moment. Nexium prices have actually gone up slightly since its introduction, partly due to a price re-introduction for Protonix, but also because generic versions of the drug have been discontinued. Generic versions also tend to be pricier, which is why we’ll get into the weeds to figure out what’s going on with prices for both Nexium and its generic counterpart.

We’ll also talk more about that in a moment. Generic versions of Nexium tend to be less expensive than their brand-name counterparts because they have fewer side effects. The good news is that both Nexium and its generic counterpart are also equally effective, so if you’re finding that your doctor or pharmacist can’t tell you everything, it’s hard tocn’ down that brand name altogether.

Sodium bicarbonate. A popular ingredient in the treatment of acid reflux disease. It's also been linked to a lot of heart problems.

The first thing you need to know about the new Prilosec, Nexium, Acid Reflux (heartburn), is that it will be available as a generic product. So, if you have been using Prilosec, that is the name given to the condition in question by your pharmacist, and it's the one that causes your heartburn.

Nexium is the brand name for the medication Prilosec. And if you're thinking about trying the generic version, you might be thinking, "That's not the same as the name that's given to Prilosec," but it's actually the same condition as acid reflux, also known as GERD. (Also known as heartburn, ulcers or gastro-oesophageal reflux disease.)

You might have heard that Prilosec is the brand name for the drug Nexium. And that's a good thing. It has fewer gastrointestinal side effects than other acid-reflux medications, which are also known as "heartburn pills." (It can cause heartburn when taken by mouth.) Nexium also has fewer stomach side effects, which is important, since it doesn't cause weight gain or gastrointestinal bleeding.)
